From the revitalized Guaíba Waterfront to the charming Historic Center, the city offers experiences that blend culture, leisure, and nature. Strolling along the waterfront at sunset, visiting the traditional Public Market, or admiring the architecture of Praça da Matriz and the Otávio Rocha Viaduct are activities that reveal the essence of Rio Grande do Sul’s capital.

There are neighborhoods in a wide variety of styles. Among the most bohemian are Cidade Baixa and the 4th District area, the latter of which is near the airport. There are also the charming neighborhoods of Moinhos de Vento and Bom Fim. For nature lovers, a stroll through Redenção (Farroupilha Park) and Parcão (Moinhos de Vento Park) is a must.

In the city center, you’ll find City Hall and the State Government headquarters, historic buildings located near the Alfândega and Matriz squares, respectively. It’s worth taking advantage of their proximity to visit the Public Market, the Mario Quintana Cultural Center, and the São Pedro Theater. Downtown also features the iconic Rua dos Andradas (or Rua da Praia), the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Porto Alegre, as well as various museums.

Nearby, be sure to visit the Otávio Rocha Viaduct (or Borges Viaduct), Largo dos Açorianos, and the Stone Bridge—true postcard-worthy landmarks of the city.

Next to the airport, Boulevard Laçador is also worth mentioning. The area offers one of the best views for watching planes land and take off, serving as a meeting spot for residents, visitors, and aviation enthusiasts.

On the outskirts of the city, check out Internacional’s home stadium, the Beira-Rio Stadium, in the southern part of the city, and the Grêmio Arena in the northern part.

Connecting people, destinations, and experiences, Porto Alegre Airport is located in the northern part of the city, near the metropolitan area. The modern complex is equipped to comfortably welcome visitors from around the world.

The terminal is the main gateway to the Serra Gaúcha, which includes the famous town of Gramado and neighboring Canela, and to the traditional Vale dos Vinhedos region, which encompasses municipalities such as Bento Gonçalves and Garibaldi.
