Porto Alegre Airport has new route option to Buenos Aires
New operations quickly connect the capital of Rio Grande do Sul to Argentina, Florianópolis and Belo Horizonte, strengthening passenger and cargo connectivity in the southern region
LATAM Brasil inaugurated three new routes from Porto Alegre this week. On Monday (September 1), direct operations to Florianópolis and Belo Horizonte/Confins were launched, while on Tuesday (September 2) the international route from the capital to Buenos Aires/Aeroparque debuted.
On Tuesday, the aircraft, coming from Confins (MG), landed at Porto Alegre airport at 8:04 am. It took off for Buenos Aires at 9:11 am.
To mark the start of flights to Buenos Aires, an inauguration ceremony was held at Porto Alegre Airport, with the presence of Fraport Brasil's CEO, Andreea Pal, and LATAM Brasil's Head of Public Affairs, Eduardo Macedo, as well as authorities and representatives of local tourism bodies.
"LATAM reinforces its commitment to Rio Grande do Sul by investing in more connectivity options, offering passengers greater convenience and travel opportunities. The three new routes bring Porto Alegre closer to important national destinations, such as Florianópolis and Belo Horizonte, and to a relevant international market, such as Buenos Aires," says Eduardo Macedo, Head of Public Affairs at LATAM Brazil.
According to Andreea Pal, CEO of Fraport Brasil, LATAM's expansion is the result of a solid partnership between the airport and the company.
"The expansion reinforces our commitment to connectivity, offering passengers more and more options. We work to ensure an efficient and safe infrastructure that contributes to mobility and the strengthening of Rio Grande do Sul's economy," says Andreea.
With continuous investments in people, fleet, technology and connectivity, LATAM has led the domestic and international markets in Brazil since 2021, according to ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency). The company currently operates the largest air network in its history in the country, with flights to 56 domestic airports and 90 international destinations, offering passengers a wide network of connections.
LATAM's international expansion is also the result of a partnership with the Brazilian International Tourism Promotion Agency (Embratur), with the aim of promoting Brazilian tourist destinations and expanding the country's global connectivity.
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, also celebrated the expansion of flights.
"These new routes represent not only more connectivity for passengers and cargo, but also new opportunities for tourism, business and the Rio Grande do Sul economy. The company's decision shows confidence in the direction we have taken for the development of the state and, above all, in the reconstruction and preparation of the future with the Rio Grande Plan. Our government has been active in making investments like this possible, including incentive measures such as the decree of June 2025, which reduced the tax base and exempted operations with aviation kerosene. This is how, with partnerships and consistent work, we are taking Rio Grande do Sul to a new level of competitiveness and integration with Brazil and the world," said the governor.
