Fraport Brasil donates to children from a school near Porto Alegre airport
Mufflers were donated to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who study at an institution in the Sarandi neighborhood
On Wednesday morning (11), Fraport Brasil donated ear muffs to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who study at the Doutor Liberato Salzano Vieira da Cunha municipal school. The school is in the Sarandi neighborhood, near Porto Alegre airport. The item will help with the children's learning and school routine.
The airport's Environment and Operations teams constantly take measurements to check that aircraft noise is within the appropriate levels. The school in question is one of the places where this control is carried out, and the noise is in accordance with current legislation.
Even so, the donation was made as an extra action, aimed at supporting students with ASD and the local school community, in order to contribute to learning.
"The airport is part of the lives of those who live around it, and that's why we understand that strengthening dialogue with the community is essential for building relationships of trust, identifying real needs and promoting actions that generate mutual benefits.actions such as this one carried out with the school are of the utmost importance and reinforce Fraport Brasil's commitment to initiatives that contribute to sustainable development, social inclusion, reducing inequalities and strengthening communities in vulnerable situations," said Paula Juruena Eidt, the company's Legal and Environmental Director.
Getting closer to the school community
As well as delivering the items, a talk was also given at the school this morning to around 150 students aged between 12 and 15.
The talk was given by Fraport Brasil's environmental analyst, Danusa Reis da Rosa, who covered environmental education, guidelines for the correct disposal of waste, sustainability actions, nature conservation and climate change, and by theoperational Safety Coordinator, Denis Fedrizzi, who spoke about the work carried out by the airport to manage the risk of fauna (which seeks to prevent possible collisions between aircraft and animals), the use of drones and the risks of using balloons, kites and lasers in the vicinity.
"The interaction between airports and the surrounding schools is fundamental. When we talk to students and teachers, we can raise awareness of the risks that simple attitudes can cause, such as releasing balloons, using lasers or using drones nearby. These behaviors can endanger the airport's operations. By getting closer to the school community, the airport promotes a culture of safety, forms more aware citizens and also awakens young people's interest in aviation and job opportunities in the area," says Fedrizzi.
